I been using Nero Burning Rom OEM version bundled with the burner for backup purpose for quite a long time. However, if you followed the development of Nero Burning Rom, you will find out that the software is become more bulky and complex, even though the updated nice interface. Plus the software is either bundled with the new purchase burner or a paid version, thus it is totally not cost effective for a normal PC user, since there are a lot of free burning software available out there. After formatted my PC with RTM version of Windows 7 x64, I just felt impressed for the changes made by Microsoft these years, especially on Windows 7 itself. A total evolution from Windows XP and of course, the half-abundant Windows Vista, which does not do good in my computer usage history. That’s it, I had jumped from Windows XP straight to Windows 7, skipping the Alla-Vista thingy that won’t run properly on my system. Check out the new Google Picasa 3.5! Name tag feature enabled!
Google Picasa 3.5 has just released few days back. A relatively new feature in it is this Name Tag feature where you can tag your photos like in Picasa Album or facebook, and what’s more the software will automatically scan through all our photos in search of human faces. Then you can enter name for them to help in organizing your photos. If you haven’t use it yet, it worth checking out.

Linux-based Multimedia System – GeeXboX
I would like to talk about a Multimedia system using Linux:-
Well, may be you know Windows Vista, Windows XP, but you might not knowing Linux. Linux is an operating system that offers a lot of function and is Windows-look-a-like operating system. But that main advantage of it is it can run in many old system in a satisfying performance. Do you have an abandoned PC without monitor or harddisk but the rest of the hardware still functioning ? Then the Multimedia System that I am going to share is suitable for you indeed, in fact I am using one too.
“GeeXboX is a free embedded Linux distribution which aims at turning your computer into a so called HTPC (Home Theater PC) or Media Center. Being a standalone LiveCD-based distribution, it’s a ready to boot operating system than works on any Pentium-class x86 computer or PowerPC Macintosh, implying no software requirement. You can even use it on a diskless computer, the whole system being loaded in RAM.”
As the introduction that I copied from the main site, it can run in a diskless system where you can actually able to watch any video format, eg. rmvb, avi, wmv etc. It is definitely piece of good software for those having an extra PC that can be turned into Home Theater PC and the most important thing is it’s hassle free. With a simple and intuitive combination of keys on keyboard to control it, your old Pentium 3 PC can become a modern HTPC with this tiny-sized program. Wireless keyboard is recommended of course, but who cares if you didn’t need to waste a single cents to revive a old PC to HTPC. Sounds nice eh ?
