Do you sometimes wonder actually how fast your internet connection provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) with local server, as well as foreign country server? Sometimes wanted to do some test to show your ISP service center how bad is your internet connection? Or even sometimes want to show off to your friend that your internet speed is blazing fast? Or simply just for fun you want to know your broadband quality?
Internet Speed Test
- For a 1Mbps package, this seems to be ok right?
Try speedtest.net. Speedtest.net performs three key measurements used to determine the overall quality and performance of your Internet connection.
Download Speed
The speed at which data is sent from the Internet to your computer
Upload Speed
The speed at which data is sent from your computer to the Internet
Ping (Latency)
The time it takes in milliseconds for a small piece of data to be sent from your computer to the Internet and back
Internet Quality Test
- A grade quality, which I never expect for.
Besides, they also have their pingtest.net went beta. Pingtest.net performs three key measurements used to determine the overall quality and performance of your Internet connection.
Packet Loss
The percentage of packets sent to a server that never arrive
Ping
The time it takes for a packet to travel from your computer to a server and back
Jitter
The variance in ping measurements where zero means all were the same
Editor’s note
You might ask are these two benchmarking sites are useful/important? Yes or No I would say. It depends on your application obviously. You might someday have a very important call via VOIP and wanted to make sure that the internet connection is working fine, then they are useful enough. Or may be you want to prove that your connection is very slow, which doesn’t match with the ISP policy, you can test the speed and send them the result. In term of broadband, speed is not equal to quality. While you can have a 100Mbits broadband connection, but if the quality is in a low down, I doubt you can enjoy the high speed, due to the high latency/high ping/high jitter etc. So, remember these two sites, speedtest.net and pingtest.net, it can be quite useful when you need it.
I am having the problem regarding the initiation of internet connection through broadband.i am using win7 os in my computer..i am receiving error651..upon changing the’raspppoe.sys’ i’m receiving error797 and also found that’wan miniport pppoe’ network adaptor became disabled..plz help
Hi,
I guess you commented in the wrong post. Anyway, if you get error 797, you should revert back to the original raspppoe.sys file as it doesn’t seems to fix your problem. Try other methods that I mentioned in my post, if all doesn’t help, you might want to call up Microsoft or your ISP for further help.
Rgds,
Taylor
